Joyce and Walky!: Another good spot -- the lamp.
Hey, it's that comic I drew last week that I pushed back to run Graham's weird-ass strip!
That's about all I have.
Fuckin' Wal-marts. Where's my Fracture? I ask for a drink of water, you give me an Animated pallet display. Curses!
(Speaking of which, if you want a Blitzwing and you live in Columbus, Ohio, the Walmart up on North Highway 23 has like a million of them.) |

| Backgammon anyone? |
[Sep. 5th, 2008|12:14 pm] |
This is my first post for Bento Challenge! I used to play Backgammon with my sister when younger...but now I've actually forgotten how to play it!

The board is made out of rice and beef soboro. Pieces are carrots and cheese circles. The dice is made of rice, and there's a soboro gunkan sushi (dice cup) on a bed of shredded lettuce. The dice are not in proportion with everything else and I think it will be a little boring to eat as there's not much variety, but it was really fun to make!

| *I* am that jerk! |
[Sep. 4th, 2008|11:05 pm] |
Shortpacked!: This is getting hotter and hotter.
I bought the hell out of Sentinel Prime today. He's been one of my most-anticipated toys from the line. Why? Because Sentinel Prime is a hilarious, obnoxious jerk. A jerk who is voiced by, and physically resembles, The Tick.
He is a Transformer figure of The Tick.
Personality-wise, though, he stands up on his own. (Though he did have one line which mentioned "Energon-y goodness.") He's that condescending jackass you love to hate, pumping up his own accomplishments and belittling everyone else's. He has it out for that goody two-shoes Optimus Prime not only because he's such a boy-scout goober, but also because he blames Optimus for the death of his girlfriend, Elita. And he's violently anti-organic, spraying himself with disinfectant every time he ends up touching one.
His toy is disappointing in its size. It's not quite big enough in scale with the other toys, in either robot or snow-plow mode, and that lack of size also means he suffers from some slightly unfortunate proportions. That set aside...
This toy is fucking awesome. Keep in mind I'm biased, as I believe Sentinel Prime is one of the best Transformer characters of all time, but he's such a great little toy. It's amazing to see him transform from this tiny boxy truck, shred into layers, and reassemble into a rounded, broad-chested robot. And despite this, at no point in the process is there a precarious or awkward step.
The roof of the truck slides back onto the truck bed, forming the backs of his feet. This reveals his arms, which stretch nearly the entire length of the vehicle. What's compelling is that the shoulders are on the rear end, far, far from the torso. There are struts the return the shoulders to the body, and these are strong struts. At no point is this thing fragile, and that's amazing considering how ambitious it is. Both sets of wheels double up on his shoulders, and the insides of one set of wheels peg into the hubcaps of the other set. Make some small alignments, fold his snow shovel in halves across his collarbones, and you're done.
It is a fun thing to do.
He comes with a lance and a shield, which help form part of his knight motif on the show, and they work well in robot mode. Probably the biggest downside of the toy is how not well they work in vehicle mode. They just pile on top, kinda sitting there, which is annoying. If he were bigger, his accessories might be able to hide somewhere inside.
But he's not bigger, and he's still incredibly awesome.
I continue to be so thankful to Transformers Animated for giving us real characters to inhabit these toys. No, that's wrong. These characters don't merely inhabit these toys, the toys themselves reflect the characters they are. That's something we haven't seen in a very, very long time. Sentinel Prime's sneer is everything that's right about current Transformers.
Oh, almost forgot. I'm quick, like a bunny, and have already detailed up my Sentinel Prime with additional black, gray, and orange lining. Check it out. |

Nook's is closed today for renovations, so I'm looking to visit someone else's town. ^.^ If someone wants to visit mine, that's okay, too, but you can't sell anything today.
Nevermind. Can't connect to the router. |

| I sure do love terrorist toys. |
[Sep. 3rd, 2008|11:00 pm] |
Shortpacked!: Well, I've drawn my allotment of backdrops for the year.
I'm a sucker for a new hooded Cobra Commander. And with a sword? And he comes in a two-pack with Tripwire and a comic? And the comic is the most hilariously awesome story ever? (Figger I'll touch on that tomorrow.)
Yes please!
I'm starting to wane myself off Joes as they descend into same-character redecos and retoolings, but that apathy does not include Cobra Commander. He's comedy gold, so I'm always up for a new one. Plus, the first 25th Anniversary Cobra Commander in a hood was pretty damn boring. For a while, I'd been lending him a cape I'd stolen from a Biggs Darklighter (who I bought to steal parts for Dr. Biggles-Jones), he was so boring. Now, this new one shines, and removes all of my style-based complaints about the first. He even comes with his own cape!
Cobra Commander's body is mostly pilfered from the Crimson Guards. He's got only a new head, cape, and webgear, but that goes a long way to making him look like his own dude. It's a startingly good reuse of old parts. He's really an impressive package, altogether.
Plus, he makes an excellent companion to Iron Grenadier Destro, who is also incredibly awesome. I think this pair is destined for some quality time on my desk. With each other.
Making out.
Ha ha ha, of course I'm kidding.
Or am I? |

| The Triumphant Return of Pixel's Storehouse and the Resultant Jubilation and Glee of the Masses |
[Sep. 3rd, 2008|10:52 am] |
|
No doubt owing to popular demand, Pixel has put up his storehouse page (archive of past projects) for the first time since his site redesign a few months ago, except now it's called Binaries. There's nothing new, but it appears to hold all the same content as before, including the adorable pixel-art collection 100 Kitties. |
